Pangururan is located on the western part of Samosir, where a bridge connects Samosir to mainland Sumatra. This small town is the administrative center of Samosir Island. The hot springs nearby are the main attraction.

Nearby Pangururan you will find "Air Panas" or hot springs. You can walk up to visit the springs. You can find some beautiful sulfuric crystals here. There is a swimming pool, so you can take a dip. The water is very hot though. To enter the hot springs, you have to pay a small admission fee.
Visit the Catholic church that was built by Dutch pastor Joosten in the traditional Batak style - a very impressive building. Underneath the church is a museum.
There are still some old Dutch houses in Pangururan at 'Jalan Belanda'.
